Early Times Report
Kathua, July 3: Former Minister and President DCC Kathua Dr. Manohar lal Sharma conducted a 3 day tour of Billawar constituency and took stock of developmental needs and public issues during string of public meetings held in different areas of the Billawar constituency.
Dr. Sharma during his whirlwind tour visited different villages including machedi, najote, trapper where he interacted with many delegation of local people, senior citizens and youths of the constituency. During interactions people apprised Manohar lal Sharma about the problems faced by them on day to day basis .People mainly complained about scarcity of ration especially wheat flour in the ration depots, unemployement low attendance in government offices which is further adding to their woes. While addressing the gatherings Dr. Sharma heavily criticized the misgovernance of BJP government due to which common masses are facing and feeling deceived. He said among all the districts of the state, kathua districts has suffered most neglection and step motherly behavior especially on employment front. Dr Sharma also asked the reason why there has been no job advertisement for teachers post in kathua district during last 4 years .Same has been the case in context of SPO recruitment. Closure of RET scheme has further added to woes and despite directions from honorable court no regularization of RET has taken place, adding to this more 62000 daily wagers who have completed more than 8 years in service are waiting for their regularization and pending wages in various departments such as PDD, PWD,IRRIGATION , FOREST, FISHRIES and more. Manohar further lambasted previous BJP"s MLA from the area for inability to start work of macheedi to tradper road under PMGSY. Dr Sharma further asked the district administration to look into the matter of low attendance in govt institutions in the area. He also assured the masses that their problems will be addressed through proper forum and also promised them, that they will not face any such problems again, once congress comes back in power.. He further termed the announcement of 3% reservation to IB people by present government is just a eye wash as he said mere 3% reservation will not solve the problems of approx. 3 lakhs people spread over 350 villages along International Border and said by this government doesn't want to solve the basic issue of the border people . He said if government is serious about People residing along IB then it should bring them under RBA category which will open door of 20 % reservation to said people and will cater for more job opportunities and further development of the people. He said due to regular ceasefire violation by Pakistan lives of the people resolving along IB is not smooth and easy and students are the worst sufferers as almost major time of the year there schools remain shut thus making them lagging behind from other students. Further he said no special recruitment drive has been conducted in belt forces for border youth thus adding to the woes of the people residing there.
