Sarthal, a tourist spot in making faces official apathy | | | Harpreet Singh Sethi Early Times Report Sarthal a lush green meadow in Bani tehsil of district Kathua is fast emerging as a major tourist spot as hundreds of tourists visit the spot to enjoy beauty. However, the visitors have complained of non-availability of mobile network in the area which keeps them cut off from rest of the world. The rush of the tourists to the spot has been perceived as a healthy sign for development of tourism in the area. It has been observed that several tourists have started to give preference for embarking their journeys from the routes of Sarthal- Bhaderwah Kishtwar or Bhaderwah- Sarthal - Bani to Dalhousie. Despite increase in flow of tourists, neither the government owned mobile company nor private operators have installed their towers along these two routes, which causes inconvenience to tourists, the locals said. "Sarthal and Shatargala areas experience heavy snowfall for almost 6 months in a year. Tourists from different parts of the country visit this site as the region is considered as one of the most beautiful spots in the entire state of Jammu & Kashmir. The Lakhanpur - Sarthal Development Authority had spent crores of rupees for attracting tourists from across the country, but the indifference of the authorities has not substantiated their efforts. |
