Forest Deptt conducts drive on rain water harvesting, Go Green J&K

REASI, July 11: In furtherance of Go Green J&K drive undertaken by Reasi Forest Division and plantation drive was carried out in Compartment no 77 Katra of Katra Range involving local Sarpanchs, Panchs, locals and staff wherein around 100 saplings of different varieties including Chinar were planted voluntarily by all the participants. In addition to this one old delofidated water harvesting structure was also repaired, cleaned and desilted voluntarily by Forest staff and locals to harvest maximum monsoon rain water which was the long pending demand of the locals. Speaking on the occasion, DFO Reasi Anil Kumar Atri said that this is a carry forward step towards achieving the goal set under Green J&K Mission and Prime Minister's directions to conserve maximum rain water during coming monsoons. He exhorted upon all to contribute for greening of surroundings along with conserving the every single drop of rain water which can percolate into earth and recharge our underground water table, so that water scarcity in the area could be minimized. He also impressed that such volunteer drives will be continued in future in different panchayats of the area.
