Early Times Report
Jammu, July 15: The whole Jammu region is gripped into crisis due to unprecedented power cuts and acute shortage of drinking water, the BJP leadership is busy these days in its membership drive.
Instead of addressing grievances of people of Jammu, who had voted to the party in just concluded Lok Sabha elections, BJP leaders have virtually abandoned them. For party membership is more important than power and water.
Instead of providing basic amenities to people of Jammu region BJP leaders are raking up emotive issues to divert attention of commoners. Residents of whole Jammu region were confronting with unprecedented water and power crisis but BJP leadership is unconcerned.
Many areas of city including Gandhi Nagar assembly segments are facing unprecedented power cuts and people are agitating to get drinking water.
Instead of mounting pressure on the government to ensure supply of power and water, BJP leaders are raking up issues like Article 370 and 35-A to hoodwink the people.
Credible sources said that matter of prevailing water and power crises was brought to the notice of top BJP leaders but they refused to take up this issue. "Senior party leaders argued that agitating for water and power issue would send a wrong message because party is ruling at the Centre and state is under President's rule", sources said and revealed that senior leaders have given cold shoulder response when some workers asked them to take up this issue with the higher-ups.
