Police updates relief measures to police personnel
7/17/2019 11:43:02 PM
Since the police is a vital component of the security grid against militants the Government has been liberal in providing relief to scores of police officials and their families over Rs 3 crore was sanctioned as welfare loan and relief in favour of 316 police personnel in Jammu and Kashmir. Police spokesperson has said that Jammu and Kashmir police is continuously focusing on the welfare of its personnel and their families.
"Different schemes have been introduced under the umbrella of Central Police Welfare Fund to help the police personnel who are in need of financial assistance for self treatment or treatment of dependents, self marriage or marriage/ higher education of their children and some religious obligations. These schemes are reviewed from time to time to make them more employee friendly," he said.
Keeping the police in good humour is quite important in launching an effective security operations against the militants. Since majority of the Jammu and Kashmir police belong to Jammu and Kashmir they can penetrate into the hideouts of militants and identify scores of militants who have taken refuge in forests in Kashmir where they have set up training centres. Both the men of the state intelligence Department and the police play a vital role in helping the Army and paramilitary forces to demolish the hideouts. That is the need for sanctioning of welfare measures and these measures are required for soleminising the marriages of daughters of policemen, and help them to send their boys to seek higher education besides treatment of their illness.
As a result of poor wages for the entire police an d their domestic responsibilities make it mandatory for the Government to provide relief to the deserving candidates. They are an important part of the security grid in Kashmir it is mandatory for the welfare association to provide relief and the only condition is the rate of reimbursement and each policemen, who are due for relief, ensure that they pay back in easy installments. Besides this there is need for introducing other relief measures for the those deserving the relief. And the Government should help them in building houses where they keep their family members safe.
