Disabled couple seek govt job

Jammu, July 18: A disabled couple of Nanak Nagar Sector-9 has no sustained source of income and makes ends meet by doing some petty jobs.
Neeraj Gupta and his wife Shallu, resident of Nanak Nagar Sec-9 H. No. 313, both are handicapped. They are living in miserable condition. Neeraj Gupta had to do some odd jobs. Although, he is science graduate but could not get a job. "I completed my graduation in Science subject in 2003 from GGM Science College Jammu and after that I took admission in MSc but I had to discontinue my studies due to some ailment. Later I did basic computer course. I tried a lot to get government job but despite having good qualification and disability criteria I was never considered," said
He further said that he has two children and has to spend a lot on their upbringing. My wife Shullu is also educated and has completed her 12th but she also didn't get government a job. Although there is reservation for disabled persons but we have been deprived of this benefit," he said further adding that for sustenance of life he has been working at the Fruit Shop of his brother.
"When I was struggling to get some job, I came to know that there is special quota for disabled person in which JDA shop is allotted to the person and I tried a lot to get shop but department didn't help me. I am continuously requesting that either I should be given government job or a JDA shop should be allotted to me so that I run my life easily," Neeraj Gupta said.
