Religious organization expresses concern over growing drug menace

KISHTWAR, July 19: President Islami Markazi Majlis Shora and Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo today showed great concern of growing drug abuse among the youth of Kishtwar and called upon the people from both the communities of the district to play their part in curbing the menace by preventing it from spreading among the young generation falling prey to it.
While addressing a Friday gathering at Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Chief Cleric said that a meeting of Shora committee was held at its headquarter in which all members participated reflecting on the issue with regard to behavior of the youth and the problems faces by the community in district Kishtwar. He said that the concern was expressed by the members towards the youth getting more and more fascinated to alcohol and drug addiction adding that drug and alcohol are being sold illegally and same has already been traced and brought to the notice of the administration, but surprisingly no disciplinary action has been taken by the concerned authorities.
He said that as far as the health sector is concerned the condition of district hospital Kishtwar is deteriorating adding that due to the carelessness of the hospital staff, Kishtwar is losing precious human lives each passing day.
People have lost confidence in this hospital due to lack of essential medicines and test facilities for poor people who are being forced to visit private centers beside are being referred to Jammu or far away Hospital from Kishtwar to get treated for even minor problems.
He said that there are reports that VDCs are being created in certain specific region of the district and a particular community is being supplied with arms which possess a threat to communal harmony adding that police and administration should clear the doubts.
