ATG's 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' Nukkad series concludes

Jammu, July 22: The Nukkad series by Jammu's leading theatre group "Amateur Theatre Group" (ATG) under the aegis of North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt of India) concluded here today with the presentation of the play 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'.
The series of the Nukkad natak held under the Pradhan Mantri Yojna schemes was very well received by the audience held at different places in Jammu. ATG is in process of highlighting various issues through Nukkad Nataks on Pradhan Mantri Yojnas.
The first Natak was held on July 18 at Gole Market Jammu, followed by others shows held at Jagti, Peer- Kho which concluded today at Maharajah Hari Singh Park.
The play "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" mainly highlights injustice and cruelty being faced by Indian women of different age groups especially young at their places of work, while traveling late night, in the colleges', schools and so on.
The main motive of amateur theatre group (ATG) was to extend a message to the society and especially to the youngsters about how women get exploited. "The time has come that each and every women should be empowered in such a manner that she may be able to face any type of odds and retaliate to the exploitation done to her," said Mushtaq Kak, the director of the series.
The Nukkad natak depicted how it will be difficult for a man to find a wife if the trend of female foeticide is continued. It also highlighted the role of education in empowering girls and women by giving the message of "Beti Bacaho Beti Padhao".
The play was written by Pritam Katoch and directed under the guidance of renowned Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mushtaq Kak and Associate Director Anuroop Pathania.
Those who performed in the Nukkad natak were Sandeep Verma, Mohit Mehra, Anuroop Pathania, Sachin Sharma, Sanam, Pardeep, Sarita, Shally Manhas, Kavita and Ashok Sharma.
