Abrogation of Article 370: Restrictions continue in Jammu for third day, schools shut

JAMMU: Restrictions in Jammu division remained in force for the third consecutive day on Wednesday amid imposition of section 144 as a preventive measure in the wake of abrogation of Article 370 that granted J&K a special status and its bifurcation into Union territories.
“All private and government schools have been closed on Wednesday for the third day as preventive measure till further orders,” said orders issued by the Deputy Commissioners of different districts including Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Poonch, Doda, Rajouri, Udhampur here.
Meanwhile, schools and colleges also remain closed in view of restrictions.
As many as 40 companies of CRPF have been deployed in all districts of Jammu region, an official said, adding that in Jammu six companies have been positioned, Samba—two, Kathua—two, Udhampur—four, Reasi—one, Rajouri—eight, Poonch—six and Doda–11 CRPF companies.
The Army has also been deployed in various parts of the district.
“Mobile Internet has also been snapped in the region, while restrictions are imposed as precautionary measure to prevent rumour mongering,” they added.
Moreover, all examinations of different schools and University of Jammu have also been postponed till further orders and fresh dates will be announced later, said an order.
The Central government on Monday revoked Article 370 to take away special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir and proposed the bifurcation of the state into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
