Abrogation of Article 370 will benefit in over all development of Jammu region: Bans Ram
Political apathy deprive Chatha Mill of basic amenities
8/9/2019 10:38:48 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 9: Bans Ram, a retired government official and social worker accused political leaders of Congress and BJP of showing apathy towards providing basic amenities in Chatha Mill area.
While talking to Early Times in an exclusive interview, Bans Ram shared many problems of his area. "Previous government has done huge injustice with the people of Chatha Mill by attaching the some part of it including my house with Raipur Domana constituency, which is at the tail end and remained out of sight of the concerned representative who totally ignored it in terms of development," he said. There are around 300 voters who belong to Raipur Domana constituency while rest of the area comes under Gandhi Nagar constituency due to which this small portion of area don't get development benefit, he said. "Chatha Mill comes under Panchayat Hakkal but concerned Sarpanch doesn't let the development work done in our area due to some political grudge with some people of the area. Our area has not seen any development for the last 10-20 years," he alleged further adding that people reside in this area mostly are poor who don't get ration timely. Highlighting another issue, he said that SKUAST-J had acquired 250-300 kanals of land from local farmers many years ago and out of which 100-50 families had ownership right over land and got compensation but rest of the 50 families which had only allotments were deprived of any compensation and left them on the mercy of god.
Expressing his happiness over the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A, Bans Ram said that West Pakistan refugees will get benefit and their due share for which they were deprived of for the last many decades. "This is very revolutionary step taken by the Center Government and with this move, the West Pakistan refugees will get citizenship, ownership of land, jobs," he said.
He further maintained that 80% of West Pakistan Refugees population is settled in RS Pura and they should get compensation on the analogy of POK refugees. Bans Ram, who is also Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Smaj Suthar Sabha, informed about various activities done by the Sabha for the betterment of the society which are mainly focused on solemnizing marriage without dowry, simple marriages, resettlement of widows etc.
