BJP Minority Morcha praises decisions on Jammu, Kashmir
8/10/2019 10:01:50 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 10: Bharatiya Janata Party Minority Morcha on Saturday endorsed the decision to abrogate Article 370 and bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.
Calling it a "landmark" in the history of the country, the BJP unit praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for the passage of legislation which bifurcates state of Jammu and Kashmir in two Union Territories and taking away its special status under Article 370.
"It is a landmark in the history of the country and the fulfilment of the initiative taken by late Syama Prashad Mukherji, the founder of Jan Sangh, after a struggle of 70 years.", it said in a press release..
The miniority unit said that the presence of Article 370 did not help in the upliftment of people and progress of the state and criticised the political parties who were opposed to the government's move.
"The political parties opposing the present Bill failed to justify that Article 370 had in any way helped in the progress of J & K and the upliftment of its people.
The fact is that with Article 370 in force, there was discrimination with women, no implementation of important central legislations on adolescent marriages, Right to Education and right of women to inheritance." the release read.
General Secretary of BJP Minority Morcha S.M Akram alleged that 370 and 35A shielded the 'misdeeds' of the previous governments in the erstwhile state and said that the people were unable to receive benefits of central schemes and legislations.
On the imposition of section 144 in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and restrictions of the internet, the organisation said that the provisions were meant to ensure law and order in the area.
BJP Minority Morcha also appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir that the central government will bring development in the region and make Jammu and Kashmir, "a real paradise".
