Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 12: In continuation to his mass contact programme, Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta who would be contesting the forthcoming Assembly elections from Gandhi Nagar constituency as an independent candidate riding his bicycle from his residence in Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar reached Bhour Kullian area today where he get firsthand knowledge of the problems being faced by the residents.
After taking stock of the problems and listening to all the grievances of the residents with utmost patience, Munish assured them that all their civic problems would be addressed on priority basis after he gets elected as a legislator.
The inhabitants, who thronged in huddles wherever Munish halted to interact, told him that the apathetic attitude of the successive MLAs representing both BJP and Congress is solely responsible for the appalling condition of their locality.
The inhabitants said that everyone overlooked their basic amenities till now.
"They (Ex-MLAs) visit our locality only when the elections are round the corner but after getting elected they leave us in the lurch," the aggrieved residents told Munish.
A large number of residents raised the issue of dilapidated condition of roads in their area adding that uneven and pot-holed roads are one of the major concerns for them as they affect their day to day lives.
"The commuters using the interior roads and lanes in the area are going through a nightmare as they experience bumpy rides on daily basis for the last so many years but the indifferent authorities as well as the former legislators never bother to initiate the process of blacktopping them despite repeated requests made by us," said a group of residents.
"We sometimes feel that our locality is not part of well urbanized Gandhi Nagar constituency but an area belonging to a remote village in far flung area," they added.
