Detained Omar, Mehbooba 'fight' at Hari Niwas Palace over supporting BJP | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 12: Detained at VIP guest house turned make shift jail, two former chief minister Omar Abdullah of National Conference (PDP) and Mehbooba Mufti of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fought with each other on the issue of allowing BJP to expand its footprint in Kashmir Valley. It was after heated arguments between two political stalwarts of Kashmir, Omar Abdullah was shifted to splendid guest house of Forest Department. According to report published in national daily, during their detention at Hari Niwas Palace at Srinagar, Omar and Mehbooba-two arch rivals entered into heated argument a couple of days back. Omar blamed Mehbooba that it was all due to PDP that BJP has managed to expand its footprint in KashmirValley. He argued that PDP-BJP alliance was turning point in the political history of J&K because this blunder committed by PDP had allowed Sangh Parivar to make inroads in Kashmir Valley. Reports quoting sources said Mehbooba Mufti countered Omar Abdullah's allegation and reminded him that he was minister in the Vajpayee led NDA government at the Centre. Mehbooba dragged Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah into debate and alleged that first blunder was committed by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Both the leaders, reports said, entered into heated argument and ultimately authorities were forced to shift Omar Abdullah to Forest Guest House at Chismashahi. Both Omar and Mehbooba Mufti were arrested on August 4 and were shifted to Hari Niwas Palace, which was turned into a make shift jail. Some officers have been deputed to provide required facilities to both the former chief ministers as per manuals. |
