Early Times Report
srinagar, Aug 20: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) office in Srinagar have been receiving scores of application of either new landline subscription or restoration of their inactive connection after the government reopened telephone exchange last week after 11 days of communication blockade.
"We have a landline connection in our home, but we did not pay our dues on time, so we are here in the BSNL office to pay the money. In the current communication blockade, the BSNL landline is the ray of hope for us", said Burhan.
He added that my parents are outside the state and we were not able to contact to them for a very long time. I guess, once our landlines work we will be able to talk to our parents for long hours. We have filed an application lets us see how much time will they take to activate our landline.
However, on Monday afternoon the landlines in the Lal Chowk area were not working after being reopened. Many landline subscribers complained that landline in their offices stopped working after being working for few hours. However, it could not be confirmed why the landline connectivity stopped working.
"I have been using the landline from many years; after the landlines were reopened we were able to get in contact with our loved ones. I am here to fill new subscription form for my sister, now they also want to have a landline connection", said Shakeel. He added that landline connectivity has somewhat provided a peace to our mind as we were not able to know what our loved ones are going through.
An official in BSNL office said that from couple of days, we have received good amount of undue payment subscribes had not paid and we have also received huge number of forms for the new landline subscription. He added that as we know that there is less communication connectivity in the valley so BSNL landline to some extent have provide help people to communicate and reach out their loved ones.
