Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 28: Sometimes blessings come in disguise and for some parents of Kishtwar it came in the form of internet blockade in the newly created Union Territory following the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A of the constituency as a result of which the children addicted to the online mobile Gaming Player Unknown's Battle Grounds commonly known as PUBG get some time to work towards bringing their addicted children back to ground square.
As per the details available with "Early Times" hundreds of teenage school going children have fallen prey to addiction to the mobile online gaming as a result of which several parents remained depressed over the behavior of their children as and when they tried to take the control of their children by preventing them from falling deep into this mobile gaming that has also claimed lives of young children in several parts of the world.
The parents of one of the PUBG addicted child told the "Early Times" that the ban on internet comes as a "blessing in disguise" for them as his child was so deeply influenced by this online game which has ultimately rued his studies and health adding that as and when they tried to prevent him from playing the game for longer duration, he (child) would turn violent.
They said that they tried to curb his freedom but his violent behavior and threat to escape from home besides to take some extreme steps, ultimately forced them to surrender before his wish.
They claimed that with the blocking of internet and mobile services in J&K, particularly the internet services has helped them to shape his child a little bit adding that if internet ban will continue, several parents whose children are addicted to the notorious PUBG game will get respite.
"My son though tried hard to get internet broadband connection-but after making all efforts for a week- he fails as local BSNL exchange has no broadband port available and ultimately it helped me to heave a sigh of relief," said another person.
Meanwhile, following continuous curbs on internet and mobile calling, youth shifted their focus to alternate sources of entertainment.
Snooker is one such option which is getting popular among youth in district Kishtwar these days as hundreds of youth were seen visiting newly opened "Snooker Club" at new Bus Stand Kishtwar to kill the time beside many youth have shifted to other substitutes in absence of non- availability of internet and mobile calling which including transfer of DVD movies on mobile phones and some off line mobile games like "Candy Crush".
Most of the youth hoped that government will consider to lift the internet and mobile calling facilities suspended from August 5.
