Dilapidated roads, blocked drains brew anguish among residents of Dashmesh Nagar Digiana
BJP, Congress alleged for hoodwinking locals

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 28: The residents of Dashmesh Nagar have been facing huge problems due to dilapidated roads and drains in their area and accused the BJP, Congress leaders of overlooking the basic issues of the area.
The development in Dashmesh Nagar towards Gatta Factory Road near Tube Well seems elusive due to which the locals have been grappling with numerous problems. "The main road towards Dashmesh Nagar is totally dilapidated at many points and the drains are also in broken condition. PHE pipeline is continuously leaking in the middle of road which has led to damage of road coupled with wastage of drinking water," said Ranjeet Singh, the local resident informed Early Times.
Karandeep Singh said the road was blacked topped nearly a year ago but due to substandard work of the road, the blacktopping couldn't stay for long time. Moreover, the grills on the drains were laid down two months ago but got broken due to low quality.
An elderly resident, Jeet Singh said that nobody listen to the plights of this area. "We requested to the concerned representatives number of time regarding these problems but except empty assurances nothing has been done on the ground. Huge potholes have developed on the road. Shockingly, the road was macadamized around 1-2 years ago but it got damaged after 6 months of its completion,"
Gurpreet Singh and Baljeet Kour , while expressing their anguish over the poor development of the area, said "We have been living in this area for the three years but haven't seen any development regarding roads, drains. It is almost beyond belief that we are residing in urban area. We had thought that development will pick pace in Governor's rule but nothing happened."
"We have never seen any concrete development ever since the colony has been developed. The concerned leaders were approached by the residents for the redressal of their problem but they didn't give heed to our problems. The extent of deterioration of road can be gauged from the fact that the vehicles can't ply over them. We all collected money for filling up of huge ditches developed on the road. During rainy season, the entire road is filled up with water making difficult for us to cross the road. Waterlogged drains, roads have become breeding ground of mosquitoes. My six months of daughter fell seriously ill due to mosquito biting" said Suraj Singh, Baldev Singh and Satinder Singh.
