Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 28: Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu today inaugurated "NAVAGRAHA VATIKA- a Garden of nine planets" created by the Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu. The garden has been created by putting together the plants, which have the force of nine planets and that is supposed to be auspicious as per astrology. Prof Dhar performed the Pooja, Hawan for Navagraha and planted Mandaar for Planet Surya, Palash for Chandra, Khair for Mangal, Apamarga for Budha, Peepal for Brihaspati, Goolar for Shukra, Shami for Shani, Duurva for Raahu & Kusha for Ketu. Prof Dhar further took a round of the Garden and watered plants representing nine planets. Earlier Prof. Ram Bahadur Shukla, Head, Department of Sanskrit said that Navagrah Vatika is going to be the important source of energy, will purify air and represents different celestial force. The Poojan was conducted by Pt. Tarsem Shastri, Surendra Kumar,Prince Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Shambhu Ram, Aatul Khajuria, Vinay Khajuria, Nitish Sharma, Praveen and Umesh paudal. Among others Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu, Prof. Ved Kumari Ghai, Prof. Ram Pratap, Prof. Vishwaraksha, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Sports & Physical Education, Prof. Monika Sethi, Prof. Sushma Sharma, Dr. Baljeet Kour, Prof. Ramnika Jalali, faculty members of various Departments of University, Office bearers of the non teaching employees union, Research Scholars and students of the Department were also present. |
