Advisor Sharma for proper channelization, generation of solar power

SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Advisor to Governor K K, Sharma today underlined the need for shifting from net metering to the gross metering so that there is proper channelization of energy which would benefit the consumers, besides ensuring greater generation of the solar energy. The Advisor was speaking at a review meeting convened to discuss the status of implementation of various schemes undertaken under the power sector and also non-renewable energy resources. Commissioner Secretary PDD Hirdesh Kumar, CEO JKEDA, Development Commissioner Power, Chief Engineers and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
While discussing other non-renewable energy sources including solar power, the Advisor said that there is urgent need for tapping the solar energy which would go a long way in making the State self reliant. He said that solar panels installed on the rooftops would ensure generation of solar energy which would not only be cheaper, but eco-friendly and also ensure that the households which would be generating surplus energy would also get the requisite compensation for the same.
He said that the necessary policy interventions which would be needed would be formulated by taking up the same with the concerned especially the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) and other allied department. During the meeting, the Advisor reviewed various Centrally sponsored schemes for the power sector and urged for fast-pacing of works on various ongoing power related projects.
The Advisor directed officers for ensuring timely completion of various schemes related to enhancement of transmission and power generation capacities so that the energy gaps can be effectively filled and the people of the State are provided with uninterrupted supply of electric power. The Advisor also reviewed the status of completion of R-APDRP (Part A and B) and called for early closure of the scheme meant for augmentation of the electric infra in major cities and towns of the State. The meeting also reviewed the implementation of Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUJGY), Saubhagya, Integrated Power Development scheme (IPDS), Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP), UDAY issues, besides, the status of revenue realization and enforcement issue.
