Jammu, Aug 29: Army Public School Damana hosted Inter Army Public School Cluster-1 Basketball competition in Boys & Girls category. The Basketball Ground was enthralled with applause and cheers for the winners for four consecutive days from 26 Aug to 29 Aug 2019. Eight Army Public Schools namely APS BD Bari, APS Jammu Cantt, APS Kaluchak, APS Ratnuchak, APS Damana, APS Miran Sahib, APS Samba and APS Sunjuwan participated with the great sporting spirit. The competition was declared open by Pushpinder Kaur, Principal APS Damana. The programme began with the oath taking ceremony by the players of various participating schools pledging utmost devotion and dedication towards the fair conduct of the game.
The eight teams competed with each other in two pools playing a total of 24 matches in the league-cum-knockout basis tournament. In the Girls category, the final match was played between APS Damana and APS Ratnuchak in which APS Ratnuchak emerged as winner. In the Boys category, APS Ratnuchak competed with APS BD Bari wherein APS Ratnuchak clinched the Winner's Trophy. The event was declared close on 29 Aug 2019 by the Chief Guest, Brig K K Singh, Chairman APS Damana. During the prize distribution, the participants from the various participating schools were felicitated by the Chief Guest amidst the gracious presence of Col Kuldeep Sharma, SO Schools, Principal APS Ratnuchak, escorting teachers and students. |
