One student one tree plantation drive held at Govt. Polytechnic Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 31: A 15 days' plantation drive w.e.f 15th to 31st August was held at Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu. The Plantation Drive kick started on the occasion of Independence day under campaign "One Student One Tree" launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
The Plantation Drive was carried out under the able guidance of Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college. While addressing the students he made them aware about how nature when protected and lived in harmony can lead to Sustainable Human Development. He further added that Tree plantation is a harbinger of prosperity. Plants eliminate the pollution and are beneficial for the health. Our motive is not just to plant the saplings but rear and nurture them as well. The number of saplings planted is immaterial, what matters the most is to pay meticulous attention for their nurture, protection and growth.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Eco-Club of the college comprising of Er. Sukhdeep Singh, Er. Ajay Thapa, Sh. Dheeraj Kumar, Er. Shokat Ali, Guminderpreet Kour, Toshi Devi and Mr Vinay Kumar.
The Head of various departments along with the faculty members and students zestfully participated in the Plantation Drive.
Different locations within the college campus were identified and plantation of various saplings was done and all the staff and students pledged their commitment to create awareness about conservation of nature by plantation of tress in furture.
Nature friendly plants and various air purification and herbal plants were planted during the drive. The Vote of thanks was presented by Er. Ajay Thapa, Incharge NSS Unit of Government Polytechnic Jammu. The others present on the occasion were Er. Inderjeet Singh, Workshop Superintendent, Er. Rajesh Gupta, H.O.D. Automobile, Er. Sanjay Gupta, H.O.D. Electrical, Ar. Ritika Wadhera, H.O.D. Architecture Assistantship, Er. Sukhdeep Singh, H.O.D. Civil, Er. Kuldeep Singh Bhatia, H.O.D. Mechanical, Er. Rajiv Kohli, H.O.D. I&C, Sh. Amit Sharma, H.O.D. T&T, Rajesh Khajuria, Training and Placement Officer, Er. Vinay Gupta, Dean Academics all the staff and students of the college.
