Srinagar, Aug 31: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed all Chief Engineers (CEs) and concerned officers to engage local youth and local skilled man-power in developmental works so that all the developmental projects and water supply schemes will be completed in a stipulated timeframe.
The Divisional Commissioner made these directions while reviewing the status of developmental works of PDD (Power Development Department), PHE (Public Health Engineering), R&B (Roads & Building), I&FC (Irrigation & Flood Control), UEED and RDD (Rural Development Department) and difficulties in executing them.
It was informed that all departments have sufficient stock of materials which will be used in developmental works. The Divisional Commissioner asked all CE's to chalk out the works calendar and engage local labourers besides local skilled man-power from the catchment areas as per requirement and kick-start all hampered developmental works immediately.
He also directed engineers to opt manual tendering process for new contracts so that all developmental works are completed before the onset of winter.
All Deputy Commissioners were directed to monitor the progress of developmental works in their respective districts on daily basis and send the weekly report to the Divisional Commissioner's office for further course of necessary action.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal, Chief Engineers of PDD, PHE, R&B, I&FC & UEED, Director Rural Development Department and other senior officers of divisional administration were present in the meeting.
