Early Times Report
Vijaypur, Sept 1: Former minister and Congress district president, Samba, Manjit Singh today came down heavily on the Kashmir based regional political parties and separatists for bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir and granting of Union Territory.
Speaking at a monthly Congress party meeting, Manjit Singh questioned that why nationalist Jammu get punishment for the wrongdoings of Kashmir based parties and separatists?
"The situation in J&K came only due to Kashmir based regional political parties and separatists like Hurriyat and other leaders who demanded restoring of Prime Minister's post, and some demanded pre-1953 like situation," he alleged.
If the rights of West Pakistan Refugees would have been given and biasedness against women stopped, he said, such a situation could have been avoided and Dogra State Jammu and Kashmir could have been restored without any problem.
The present situation is due to anti-national agitations and objectionable demands by the regional political parties. Their policies allegedly mislead the youth of Kashmir valley and provoking them against India has brought this situation," he said, while expressing concern over the prevailing situation.
He said that all the Congress leaders who have been arrested/detained under house should be set free as they are nationalist voices. "Now that the Jammu and Kashmir has been granted Union Territory status, the Government should reserve rights of local residents of Jammu and Kashmir in employment in government, private sector, land rights should only be reserved for locals since they are under developed, and many educated youth are unemployed in Jammu," he said, while referring to certain cases of border areas in Samba district.
"Jammu and Kashmir's statehood should be restored. In Jammu, we are already facing unemployment, and industries are also flop," he said, adding, demanded "Internet service should be restored in Jammu so that the unemployed youth can fill forms and do their studies."
