SPMCS Udhampur celebrates 'Universal Brotherhood Day' | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Sept 11: In sequence to the celebrations of the 'Teachers Day', SPM Convent School Udhampur today organized a function in the premises of the school to celebrate 'Universal Brotherhood Day'. Function was attended by the Chairman of the school, Bansi Lal, Director School, Sh. KD Singh, Principal teachers and approximately all students of the school. On the occasion 'Scouts and Guides' wing of the school dislayed impressive Yoga Aasans. Mahadeep Singh Jamwal Ex- Sr. Superintendent of Police and President 'Jagriti Senior Citizens Club Udhampur was the chief guest and retired SSP Rattan Manotra, IPS, was the guest lecturer. On the occasion Manotra apprised the students about drug menace and advised them to desist from this activity that has engulfed the young generation who is the future of our country. Mr. Jamwal apprised that 11 September is celebrated every year as 'Universal Brotherhood Day' to create an atmosphere of peaceful living and creating bonds of love and respect for each other. On the day 11 September 1893, Swami Vivekananda delivered a historic and famous speech in World Religiou Parliament in Chicago, opening with words of 'Sisters and brothers of America'. The entire assembly gave extended standing ovation to the Swami, just after hearing these opening words. |
