Jammu, Sept 14: More than 50 children escaped unhurt when a major fire broke out inside "Bal Ashram" in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. "Fire broke out on Friday midnight due to short circuit in "Bal Ashram", Rahul Yadav, Deputy Commissioner Poonch here said. Mr Yadav said that the children raised alarm following which police teams, fire and emergency services were rushed to the spot and they were shifted to safer location. The official further said that the fire was controlled and early this morning, children were sent back to the "Ashram". ''They have again been rehabilitated in the recreation hall of the 'Bal Ashram''', he revealed. "The books, other items have got damaged in the fire but we will starting the restoration work," he stated. At least 61 children were trapped in a fire last midnight in Poonch. "Short circuit was the reason behind fire but we will be investigating the matter," he added. |
