Samooh organizes two day folk, traditional art festival | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 20: Samooh Theatre organised a two day State level festival on traditional and performing arts here at K.L Saigal hall and Village Dansal concluded here at Jammu. The objective of the festival was to revive the various folk and traditional arts which are dying in the modern times especially in the time of technology. Dr. Sudhir Mahajan founder and anchor of the programme while welcoming the guest said these folk arts of performing arts are more than 500 years old but rarely are seen to be performed neither in the rural nor in urban too. So In order to revive the same Samooh Thatre organised a event both in Jammu and Dansal to encourage the artists of the far - flung area of the Hills and Semi Hills of Jammu and Kashmir. In the two day programme, various prominent folk and traditional folk parties exhibit the folk culture including Bhakh, Geetru, Gojri, Pahari, Kashmiri, Punjabi, Dogri, Geetru, Gohrian, Suhag, Chajja Dance, Haran Dance and Fumni Dance etc. |
