Infighting intensified in BJP after announcement of BDCs elections
10/3/2019 11:04:24 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 3: Infighting in state unit BJP has been intensified with the announcement of elections for Block Development Councils (BDCs) because leaders at district level have started projecting their loyalists for party mandates.
Election Department has announced BDCs elections on party basis so hectic lobbying has been started within the party to get mandate for these polls.
Credible sources said that recommendation of Mandal and Zila committees of BJP is important for giving mandate to any candidate for BDCs elections so Mandal and Zila presidents are trying their best to accommodate only their loyalists at the cost of deserving candidates. Instead of recommendation names of dedicated BJP workers for BDCs elections, Mandal and Zila presidents, sources said, are trying to projects only those leaders who have recently joined party to settle score with their opponents within the party. As large number of BJP supporters had won Panchayat elections, party leaders are thinking that party candidates would easily won BDCs polls.
As reported earlier, BDCs elections will be held on October 24. The counting of the votes has been scheduled for the same day, October 24. The votes counting would begin from 3 pm.
Voting in the BDCs will begin at 9 am and continue till 1 pm across the state. Elections will be held in 310 blocks out of 316 blocks in J&K and will be completed before the state of J&K is formally declared a Union Territory on October 31.
