DIPR hosts symposium on prevention of drug abuse

UDHAMPUR, Oct 5: To spread awareness among the students, Cultural Wing, Department of Information & Public Relations, Jammu in collaboration with District Information Centre, Udhampur today organized a symposium cum Cultural Programme on the topic "Prevention of Drug Abuse" here at Holy Angel Public High School, Billan Bowli Road.
Principal of the host school, Sonika Kalra was the chief guest on the occasion.
As many as 11 students of host school participated in the contest and expressed their views on the topic. Sanvi of class 4th student clinched first position while Sudanshu and Sandhiya both of class 10th secured second and third positions respectively.
The Chief Guest lauded the efforts of Department in organizing the event of great importance in their school. She said that the contest has enabled the students to showcase their talent on a common platform which would help in building self-confidence amongst them. She urged for holding more such programmes in educational institutions for the awareness of youngsters.
Later, Artists of Cultural Wing presented a scintillating cultural programme which was highly applauded by the audience.
Ashok Kumar, Nisha Sharma and Manju Joshi acted as judge in the contest. Prizes were also given to the winners.
The proceeding of the programme was conducted by Senior Artist Suresh Kumar and students of host school Vanshika and Meenakshi.
Among others present were senior artists of Information Department Yash Kumar, Mohinder Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Balbir Singh, Staff Members and large number of the students were also present on the occasion.
