'Next time Kashmir-centric leaders can end up in any ordinary jail' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 5: Kashmir-centric leaders who are under detention since August 5 are relaxing in a posh hotel and special huts in the Valley. According to media reports, these leaders which include three Chief Ministers of J&K- Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti are being provided with all the facilities by the government. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "The posh Centaur Hotel being turned into Sub-jail has proved to be a blessing in disguise for the Kashmir-centric politicians lodged there as they are relaxing over there with all the facilities being at their disposal." He said, "Similarly, Farooq Abdullah's own residence has been turned into subsidiary jail while Omar and Mehbooba have been kept in special huts on the foothills of Zabarwan mountain range on the banks of Dal Lake." Media reports claimed that politicians are getting the food of their choice and they are watching the latest movies in the "VIP confinement". "Had these leaders been lodged at Central Jail Srinagar like the former Union Home Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has been kept in solitary confinement at Tihar Jail in New Delhi, they would have come to know what the jail is all about," the analyst added. He said, "The Government of India by not acting tough against the Kashmir-centric leaders has sent a clear message to the world that India is the most tolerant democracy in the world and knows how to treat the political prisoners." An observer said, "The Kashmir-centric leaders undergoing detention in posh hotels and special tourist huts should realize that anti-national rhetoric is not going to work anymore. Nor will the country tolerate any attempt to preach separatism and advocate the cause of Pakistan. Whenever these leaders come out they should be ready to integrate themselves with the new India rather than identifying themselves with Pakistan." He said, "The Kashmir-centric leaders during the past seventy years have sailed in two boats. In New Delhi they used to talk in a language which suited the people there and in Kashmir they used to leave no opportunity to appease the separatists and the people sitting across the Line of Control." The observer said the Kashmir-centric leaders can no more play the politics of deceit as the times have changed. "May be at present they are getting all the facilities in the posh prisons where they have been lodged but one thing is for sure that if they don't mend their ways after getting released they could next time end up in any ordinary jail across the country," he added. |
