Reasi holds meeting regarding BDC elections

REASI, Oct 6: Deputy Commissioner and District Panchayat Election Officer, Indu Kanwal Chib, today chaired a meeting regarding preparations for upcoming BDC Elections.
It was informed in the meeting that 12 polling booths would be set up throughout the district for these elections.
Chib informed that a district level committee has been constituted to monitor implementation of Model Code of Conduct in the district. Similarly, different committees will monitor other aspects, like expenditure by political parties, in relation to the elections. She also passed strict directions regarding permission for holding political campaigns and other related events. A meeting with representatives of various political parties would be held soon, she added.
The DPEO had threadbare discussion with Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers regarding various aspects of these crucial elections.
Other exercises like randomization, printing of stationery, training of polling staff, security, transport plan and videography etc were also discussed during the meeting.
It was informed that Monday, October 7, would be a full working day and therefore nominations could be filed on the day.
The nominations would be filed up to October 9 and the scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on October 10, while last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 11 and polling shall be held, wherever necessary, on October 24 across the district.
Those present at the meeting included Deputy District Panchayat Election Officer, Sanjay Badyal; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Vivek Puri and SDM Dharmari, Sushil Kesar and other district officers.
