MPEJ hails abolition of LC, term it as white elephant on state exchequer | | | Jammu, Oct 19: Apropos to the news item titled "LC abolished Assembly reduced to powerless institution" published in a section of press, the active members of Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice, Ram Singh Chauhan & Kuldeep Kumar Rao in a joint statement issued here have hailed the decision of abolishing of Legislative Council in J&K and termed the Legislative Council not as a House of Elders but a House of politically defeated politicians managing re- employment and a great burden on state exchequer. They said that it is a delayed but a right step in the right direction and is in line with other states of the country like Haryana, Himachal Pardesh, Karnataka, Chennai, Punjab etc , they said and added that shedding crocodile tears over abrogation of Art. 370 & 35-A by Congress they maintained that all the traditional national & regional Parties are responsible for the reasons of abrogation of these articles because they badly misused these articles for their personal benefits and committed un-told & unprecedented excesses on common masses of both Jammu, Kashmir as also Ladakh. Striking on Accord of convenience in 1975 between Sheik Abdullah & Indira Gandhi, Crowning Sheik Abdullah as Chief Minister of the state in a most undemocratic, illegal & not constitutional manner when Sheik Abdullah had not even Single Member in the Assembly & then entering into another Accord between Rajiv Gandhi & Farooq Abdullah in 1987 & subsequently indulging into mass scale unprecedented riggings in 1987 Assembly elections, which sowed the seeds of arms struggle in the shape of militancy engulfing thousands of lives besides loss to huge property, are the most unforgivable instances the Congress & NC, can never absolve themselves of the Himalayan blunders committed by them, they said. |
