Kissan Sabha demands compensation to farmers, scapping toll plazas | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 19: Kissan Sabha, in a meeting held at Jammu has expressed concern over the loss by the farmers in various areas of Jammu due to damage caused to paddy crops by wind and rain some time back and no step taken by the Govt. to help the farmers. The Kissan Sabha is also seriously concerned over the opening of multiple Toll Plazas in Jammu Region which amounts to over taxing the people and subjecting them to harassment on the roads. The economy of this region has already suffered due to unprecedented situations and heavy dose of toll collections on roads will squeeze them further and push them to wall. This is to seriously affect the tourist flow besides students, farmers and various other daily commuters. The Kissan Sabha has asked the Central Government to abolish all the Toll Plazas from the State. The Sabha has asked the State Govt. to support the farmers by compensating the loss suffered by them due to damage to their paddy crops. Meeting was presided over by Hari Chand Jalmeria president. Dr. Ghanisham Singh Charak, Dewan Singh, Tek Chand Sapolia, Uday Chand, Swarn Singh, Kuldip Singh expressed their views. |
