Absence of records of these unwanted guests with police poses serious concern | Swallowing number of beggars in Jammu becomes nuisance for people | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 19: The swallowing number of beggars in the city of temples has become nuisance for the general public but shockingly the local police don't have any records regarding these people hailing from various states across the country. Large groups of beggars can be seen at every traffic signal in the city, who jump out to the commuters, motorists when their vehicles stop at these signals and create inconvenience to them until they get alms. It has been observed that some beggars particularly children pull out the cloths of the general public and continue to bother them unless they are not being given money. "These beggars create trouble for the motorists as they come in front of vehicles suddenly due to which sometimes it becomes almost difficult to control the speed of vehicles which can led to accidents," said a motorist. The increasing number of these beggars in the city has been creating security concern. Nobody knows about their real whereabouts. At least, administration as well as the police should know about their identity but shockingly there is no official information, records about them with administration as well as with the Police. It is very surprising that police ask the general public to establish their identity whenever they are asked for but what about these unwanted guests, who are roaming freely across the city without any check. When Early Times correspondent contacted the SSP Jammu Tenjinder Singh regarding the availability of any records of these beggars, he didn't give clear reply and said that there is no reason to doubt them as he had not received any complaint against them which can create security threat. |
