Govt should initiate enquiry of Legislative Council employees' recruitment | Over 75 percent staff from Kashmir valley, Jammuites got marginal share | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 19: Though the Governor led state government has abolished the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council (LC) but an enquiry must be initiated as how over 75 percent of the recruited staff in the Council was from Kashmir valley while Jammu region had got a marginal share in the employment. According to the new order issued by General Administration Department (GAD), the Legislative Council has been abolished in terms of Section-57 of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019 and the staff members have been asked to report to GAD before October 22. The department has also updated a list of 116 employees and officials out of which most of them are from Kashmir valley, which accounted for over 75 percent while Jammu region candidates had got a little share due to reasons best known to the authorities concerned. "Time and again allegations of backdoor appointments were raised against the Legislative Council, which was considered as a safe place for adjusting the close ones of the politicians as well as bureaucrats", sources said, adding that even the allegations of back door appointments were also found correct. In a recent case, as reported by Early Times, an official had got himself recruited in the LC through backdoor channel and then got undue promotions without any break and had reached to the level of a post, equivalent to IAS grade. "It was all possible as the official had been holding close allegiance to power corridors and with the help of his strong political backing, enquires failed to prove him wrong", sources said, adding that recently the Union government has initiated an enquiry against the blue-eyed official. "The official is not a single case but there can be many other cases of such backdoor appointments and the list of officials and employees provide ample evidences as how Kashmir region candidates got maximum share in Legislative Council while Jammu region was totally ignored", sources said, adding that even in administrative services, the candidates from Jammu have been outperforming against Kashmir valley candidates. The Governor led administration must initiate an enquiry against the recruitments in the Legislative Council, where many employees and officials had got jobs through backdoor channels. |
