In Srinagar, 175 structures, 7434 fruit trees damaged say report

srinagar, Nov 16: The untimely snow that occurred in the first week of November across the valley has damaged more than 150 structures including residential houses, whereas many apple orchards also stands damaged, reveals the report in Deputy Commissioner office, Srinagar.
The weather changed the mood in the valley last Thursday which lead to immense damage across the valley. While as various departments including horticulture and other departments are ascertaining the amount of the damage that has been caused by the heavy snowfall.
An official in the Deputy Commissioner Office said, "As per the reports available around 175 residential houses have suffered a various kind of damage in the snowfall. While as, one house was fully damaged and two houses suffered partial damage in Khanyar locality and as many as 7,434 fruit bearing trees suffered damage in the snowfall".
He added that moreover, tin roofs of most of the residential houses were damaged in the snowfall in areas falling in south and north of Srinagar.
"Five mosques one in Shalteng and four in Pantha Chowk were also damaged. While as 28 cowsheds and 31 shops and business establishments were damaged in the snowfall, reveals reports.
As per the official data, the area mainly in north Srinagar compromising Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Zakura, Harwan, Dhara, Fakir Gujari, Khimber, Gulabbag and Shalimar has suffered a loss of over 2500 fruit bearing trees while 4500 and 434 trees suffered damage in Shalteng and Eidgah.
While as the government has provided an exgratia of Rs two Lakh to the family of the person who has died in the weather-related incidents in the district. Besides, an exgratia of Rs 30,000 was provided to an injured person.
An official, however, said officers and other employees are still ascertaining the facts and figures as the number can rise.
