Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 24: A sarpanch from Rajouri district has boycotted the second chapter of Back to Village (B2V) programme, which is going to be held in coming week, alleging that government has been hoodwinking the people under this programme as it has totally failed to mitigate the problems which were highlighted in earlier programme.
The sarpanch from tehsil Nowshera informed Early Times that it makes no sense of attending B2V-II as the issues of his panchayats which were highlighted in previous programme of B2V, which held nearly six months ago, could not be resolved and still pending.
"In previous programme we worked very hard for continuously three days to make developmental plans for the panchayat but nothing was done after once the programme concluded defeating the main purpose this programme," he said further adding that it has become difficult for him to reply the people of panchayat about the status of previous programme as many vital works are still remained unattended.
He said that the initiative of government of bringing back to village programme is appreciable and the idea behind the programme was good but the failure in its execution has totally defeated its purpose.
He further said that the government released Rs 5 Cr for 312 panchayats of district Rajouri for execution of various works of previous programme resulting Rs 1.5 lakh has to given to each panchayat but nothing has been done till date.
"People's aspirations are very high with us but government's casual approach for not fulfilling the basic demands and issues creating problems for us," he said further adding that there are 21 departments under panchayats but to get work done for the development of the panchyat has become hard nut to crack.
