'Muster courage to tell the world who is responsible for crisis'
Yashwant Sinha led panel's Kashmir visit
11/24/2019 11:09:44 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 24: Members of Concerned Citizens Group led by the former BJP leader and Union Minister Yashwant Sinha who are in Kashmir since Friday have claimed that situation in the Valley is far from normal.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "We cannot brush aside the claims of Sinha led panel as criticism for the sake of criticism but Sinha cannot blame New Delhi for situation in Kashmir being volatile as the Government of India is making all the possible attempts to restore normalcy in the Valley."
He said, "Sinha led 5-member panel should try to find out the reasons for normalcy not returning to the Valley rather than reaching to the preconceived conclusion. It needs to muster courage and call spade a spade. The group needs to tell the world that shutdown is being enforced by the Pak-sponsored terrorists and they are not allowing the normalcy to return."
Another analyst said, "Sinha led group should stop playing politics over abnormal conditions prevailing in the Valley and come forward to project how our neighbouring country is trying to keep the conflict alive."
He said, "Much hype has been created about internet not being restored in the Valley but no one is talking about the dirty tactics being employed by the people sitting across the Line of Control to keep Kashmir burning."
The analyst said, "When a delegation of the European Union (EU) parliamentarians visited Kashmir, terrorists shot dead six non-local labourers in South Kashmir and tried to escalate the violence. The EU parliamentarians minced no words to condemn the innocent killings and assured the Government of India (GoI) that entire world stands with India in its fight against terrorism."
He said, "Sinha led panel should take a cue from the EU parliamentarians and condemn the atrocities being committed by the Pak-sponsored terrorists, who have asked people of Kashmir to keep everything closed indefinitely."
An observer said that Sinha and his group should realize that times have changed and they cannot just appease a few leaders who have been detained. "The group needs to talk to people to access the ground situation. When the GoI reorganized the J&K and bifurcate it into two Union Territories on August 5, curbs were imposed but these were relaxed in phased manner and within a month restrictions had been lifted. Since then Pakistan has been playing dirty games by targeting non-locals labourers, truck drivers, apple traders and hurling grenades at crowded places. Now the posters are being pasted on the shutters of shops. Businessmen and shopkeepers are being directed not to resume their daily chores and if they do so they are being threatened that they will be shot dead. One hopes Sinha led panel after its return from Kashmir apprises the world about these happenings rather than blaming the GoI for the prevailing mess in Kashmir," he added.
