Gender Sensitisation workshop organized in JU

JAMMU, Nov 28: The Centre for Women's Studies, University of Jammu organized a Workshop today for scholars and students of the faculty of Social Sciences and Languages of University of Jammu on "Gender Sensitization".
Prof. Vishav Raksha Director, Centre for Women's Studies, University of Jammu, introduced the theme of the Workshop and spoke about the objective and the mission to hold this Workshop which is to generate awareness about gender issues among the scholars and students. The Research Scholars and students from Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages participated in the workshop.
Prof. Gurpreet Bal the key resource person from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar interacted with the participants on various aspects of Gender and Gender Equality and spoke at length about gender issues in our day to day life. She also undertook different brainstorming sessions comprising of various activities in which the students participated very enthusiastically.
In another session Prof Bal spoke about gender construction and also suggested various ways to eliminate the disparity among both the sexes. Other Resource persons for the workshop included Dr. Hema Gandotra, Department of Sociology, University of Jammu who conducted a session on the third gender and understanding their life and Dr Saranjit Kaur, Centre for Women's Studies, University of Jammu who spoke to scholars about Domestic violence and its causes. The valedictory session was presided over by Prof Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies University of Jammu who appreciated the Centre for organizing the workshop and congratulated the participants for attending the same.
