JK BOSE working on formulation of exam, evaluation guidelines for CWSN in line with CBSE : Sarita

JAMMU, Dec 3: Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department, Sarita Chauhan, today said that J&K BOSE is envisaging adoption and formulation of examination and evaluation guidelines for Children With Special Need (CWSN) in line with the CBSE guidelines. Commissioner Secretary was addressing students during World Disability Day observance by Department of School Education today at Teachers' Bhawan. This year's theme of the Day is "Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda". Sarita Chauhan said that the theme focuses on empowerment of persons with disabilities for inclusive, equitable and sustainable development as envisaged in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which pledges to 'leave no one behind' and recognizes disability as a cross-cutting issue, to be considered in the implementation of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She exhorted upon the teachers to adopt practical approach towards ensuring added support and facilities to persons with disabilities, in all spheres of life, enabling them to enjoy equal opportunities of growth and development. She apprised the participants of various schemes of Inclusive Education specially designed for CWSN being executed by School Education Department through its flagship programme, Samagra Shiksha.
The programme commenced with National Anthem in Sign Language which was followed by other performances viz. folk dance, modern dance and a skit based on Pulwama attack.
State Project Director Samagra Shiksha, Dr. Arun Manhas, presented vote of thanks and expressed his deep gratitude to Commissioner Secretary for her consistent guidance, support and mentorship towards promoting Inclusive Education in government schools of J&K. He also thanked Inclusive Education Team of School Education for bringing laurels to J&K in International Festival held at Bhubneshwar Odisha.
Later, Sarita Chauhan felicitated the team that recently participated in the International Anjali Festival for bringing laurels to J&K besides presenting mementoes to meritorious students.
One of the student, Sukriti Suri who anchored the programme and is 100% visually impaired was also honoured by the Commissioner Secretary.
Among others who attended the event were Special Secretary School Education, Gazanfar Ali; Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta; Chairperson JKBOSE, Prof. Veena Pandita; Principal SIE, J. K. Sudan; CEO Jammu, Kulbir Singh and State Coordinator Inclusive Education, Dr. Ravinder Jangral besides other senior officers, teachers, parents, Special Education Teachers and Resource Persons.
