Detained netas were using phones for 'over fortnight!'
Phones were 'smuggled' into Centaur Hotel Sub Jail

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 8: Even as the Jammu and Kashmir Police have seized over a dozen mobile phones from politicians detained at the MLA Hostel in Srinagar, the detainees may have got access to phones during their previous detention at the Centaur Hostel on the banks of Dal Lake.
Highly placed sources told Early Times that police have got "credible leads" in the case suggesting that the detainees were in possession of the phones for the past over a fortnight.
"We have got some leads that suggest about such a long use of phone (in detention)," said a source in police department. Whereas the leaders were shifted to the MLA Hostel on November 17, sources said "phones may have infiltrated" into Centaur Hotel sub jail from where the detainees managed to smuggle the same into the new prison.
Sources said those politicians who may have used phones include a youth leader of the PDP apa

t from senior leaders of the National Conference and Peoples Conference.
"There's every possibility that their relatives or friends who would come to meet them ( at Centaur) had managed to bring in mobile phones. But everything will be clear once the inquiry is completed," said a source in the administration.
It is pertinent to mention that the police have already installed mobile phone call jammers at the new sub jail at the MLA Hostel.
While being shifted to the MLA Hostel an altercation had reported taken place between some of the detainees and the police.
As per the tweets made by daughter of Mehbooba Mufti about the incident, those who were allegedly roughed up included Peoples Conference leader Sajad Lone his colleague Sheikh Imran, PDP leader Waheed Parra, and former bureaucrat turned politician Shah Faesal. The police, however, had refuted allegations as made by Mehbooba's daughter.
