The highway, the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, remained closed since Thursday night following fresh snowfall and landslides.
Reports said that hundreds of vehicles, including those carrying passengers, are stranded on this side of the Jawahar tunnel.
They said that there were fresh landslides and shooting stones between Ramban and Ramsu during the night due to which traffic on the highway could not be restored today.
However, Air traffic at Srinagar International Airport was resumed on Saturday afternoon after remaining suspended for the past seven days due to poor visibility.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar Leh highway has been closed for winter months due to over five feet of fresh snowfall since Tuesday night and slippery road conditions following below freezing temperature. |
