Security forces carried CASO in fifty areas in last two days across valley

JAMMU, Jan 11: Amid chilling, from last two days, the security forces have conducted Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) in more than fifty areas in the Kashmir valley.
The Cordon and Search Operations were carried out in the routine manner wherein Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and insurgency wing of Jammu and Kashmir searched the area after specific information about presence of militants in the area; however no contact was made with militants.
Sources said that the area where Cordon and Search Operation were carried out include Tral Payeen, Maldair Zainapora Shopian, Zeb Khurhama Sogam, Satkuji Zachaldara, Banwar Chadoora, Lone Mohalla Handwara, Malpora Watergam in Awantipora, Zampora Arizal.
The other areas include Gutiyar Baramulla, Wani Mohalla Sopore, Babwatoo Larnu in Anantnag, Hambal Chogul in Handwara, Orray Mohalla Rangpora in Zakura Srinagar, Dragpora Sopore, Batapora Srigufwara in Anantnag, Ratnipora Pulwama, Rasgali Teng in Dalgate Srinagar and others areas.
A senior official said that the Search and Cordon Search Operation was launched as there were information about the presence of militant in the different areas of the Kashmir valley which include many areas.
"These operations involved Army, CRPF and counter insurgency wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police", he added.
He added that these search operations were conducted by Army soldiers from 21, 42, 28, 44, 50, 55, 32, and 28 Rashtriya Rifles and they were assisted by Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group (SOG).
