Early times Report
MENDHAR, Jan 13: Spending lakhs of rupees annually on the maintenance of Mendhar town, the Rural development department has failed to provide a better drainage system due to which rain water gushes into residential houses, schools, business establishments and shops, causing huge losses to the property of the residents.
Sources said Block Development Officer Mendhar spends lakhs of rupees on the maintenance of the town yet heaps of garbage and filth remain present there. During the rain all the filth flows with the water and chokes the entire drainage system of the town. As a result, the flood water enters into the shops and houses of the locals who suffer the losses of crores of rupees, they added. This year too, maintenance work of the town has been given to the RDD for Rs 24 lakh, but there is no visible change in the condition of the town, according to locals.
Members of Beopar Mandal Mendhar alleged that they also collect money for the maintenance of town and hand it over to the department yet the look of town remains shabby and during the rainy days the works of RDD gets exposed as all the drains remain choked and rains water with mud and dirt enters into the shops and the houses of people.
