2-day training programme on NSS held

JAMMU, Jan 16: Directorate of Economics & Statistics organised a two day training programme on National Sample Survey (NSS) 78th round for the field functionaries of Jammu Division which was earlier inaugurated by Director General, Economics & Statistics, A.K. Gandotra.
Pertinently, National Statistical Office (NSO) is conducting survey on Domestic Tourism Expenditure and Multiple Indicators during 2020, which is aimed at to provide detailed information on expenditure on Domestic overnight and same day trips which would be used by the Union Ministry of Tourism, in preparation of third Tourism Satellite Account (TSA).
Director General, in his inaugural address, emphasized the importance of training programme and expressed hope that the field functionaries will collect reliable and accurate data.
Regional Director, Rajni Charak, acknowledged the role of NSS surveys in policy making and planning while Resource person from DES Joint Director (Survey) Sunita Kanchan highlighted the importance of NSS 78th round. They encouraged the participants to take full benefit of training so that a quality data could be obtained for preparation of NSS reports.
The first day of training was devoted to discussions on concepts and definitions and listing schedule while training was imparted to the participants on Domestic tourism expenditure (Sch21.1) and Multiple Indicator Survey (Sch5.1) on the concluding day.
Also, feedback and quiz session was held for the participants to train them for the task ahead.
The training was also attended by Joint Director (C) Yasir Balwan, Joint Director (Statistical Training School), Ashu Gupta, Joint Director(Survey) Sunita Kanchan, Deputy Director, Rajesh Kumar, Senior Statistical officer, Sunil Khar, NSO, FOD, MOSPI, J&K, DSEOs of Jammu province and officials of DES, DSEOs and Office of Regional Director, Jammu.
Deputy Director, DES, Priyanka Parihar, presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
