1/24/2020 9:41:13 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 24: Young Lawyer’s Association through Vice- President, Adv. Sarvesh Kotwal, forwarded a representation to the President of India seeking, appointment of Chairperson and other members of Armed Force Tribunal for the Srinagar bench (under Section 7 of The Armed Forces Tribunal Act 2007), at the earliest to ensure speedy disposal of cases and urgent shifting of Armed Force Tribunal from Army Premises Sunjwan, Jammu to any other civilian building or area to ensure easy accessibility to the Tribunal for advocates as well as general public.
Representation further stated that the Armed Force Tribunal is set up inside a very small Apartment comprising of just 3 rooms which is near to the army quarters inside the Army Premises at Sunjwan and that the court room is well below the standards of the Armed Force Tribunals, with only a sitting capacity of 15 to 18 people and there is no space for any improvement and therefore, it is recommended that the Armed force Tribunal should be shifted from the existing sitting place to any other civilian area, so that at least the basic standards of workplace are met.
