Shreya, Sahiban selected for Asian Junior Fencing Championship

Jammu, Feb 8: International Medalist and ace fencer of Jammu and Kashmir Shreya Gupta and Sahiban Singh have been selected for playing in Asian Junior & Cadet Fencing Championship to be held at Jakarta, Indonesia from 25th February to 5TH March 2020 under the aegis of Fencing Confederation of Asia (FCA). Shreya Gupta shall play in both junior and Cadet Categories and Sahiban Singh only in Cadet Category. The selection of the fencers is on the basis of their performance in 16th Cadet National Fencing championship held at Hyderabad, Telangana from 13th to 15th January 2020 and 27th Junior National Fencing championship held at Bhopal (M.P) from 9th to 12th November 2019.
Shreya secured individual Gold and team bronze in 27TH Junior National Championship and in 16th Cadet National Championship, Shreya created history by winning third consecutive Gold in as many years for J&k besides winning team Bronze. Whereas Sahiban Singh won individual bronze and team bronze in Cadet Category. The credit for selection of these players in this international event goes mainly due to encouragement and support of J&K Amateur Fencing Association including its President Sh.M.J. Sharma and General Secretary Vijay Sharma. Both the players are being trained by J&K Sports Council coaches Shotu Lal Sharma and Rachna Jamwal and also given guidance by international player as well as International referee Rashid Ahmed Chowdhary.
