Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 10: In connection with the 1st Death Anniversary of legendary Urdu poet "Late Vidya Rattan Asi" Jammu Civil Society for Art and Literature and P.G. department of Urdu, University of Jammu jointly organized a function in which various speakers paid glowing tributes to Vidya Rattan Asi. The speakers were of the opinion that the poetry of Vidya Rattan Asi will be remembered for a long time, as he projected the realities of life in his poetry. He was a poet par excellence. Besides was also a simple and Noble soul. His collection of poetry titled "Dasht-e-Talab", "Zindagi Ke mare Log" have been appreciated by the reputed critics of Urdu language and literature. Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, the Chief Guest on the occasion appreciated the efforts of department of Urdu, University of Jammu and Jammu Civil Society for Art and Literature for organizing a memorable program in the memory of Vidya Rattan Asi. According to Vice Chancellor Vidya Rattan Asi was a towering poet of Jammu and Kashmir , his poetry is simple and attracts each and everyone. He lives his life in a poor condition. Because of many obstacles he wrote a poetry which could be placed at a high level. His Ghazals have been sung by different singers of the state and his poetry is quoted by different scholars at various stages.
