EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Feb 20: With casual approach of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) Department Rajouri, a road project from Rajouri to Keri having length of 24 kms has been lying incomplete since years.
Sources told Early Times that the road has been lying in dilapidated condition for the last many year, due to which many accidents took place in the area later an up-gradation work of road from main Rajouri to Keri was sanctioned in May 2018 at the cost of the Rs 21 crore. “The up-gradation work of road was included widening and blacktopping and for that JCB was pressed in for earth work by the contractor, and the said work has been going on snail pace and which is still incomplete,” they said further adding that the non seriousness of the department can be gauged from the fact the contactor, who was allotted work, sublet the work to many contactors, who later again sublet work to their mates, but despite that work could not see completion even after lapse of many years. Despite the fact that road gives connectivity to dozen villages of the area, yet department hardly bothered to take this matter seriously. Many protests were held in recent past by the local residents but department seems to be in deep slumber. Pertinently few months ago in an incident, students of a school went unconscious due to thunder lightening but ambulance could not reach due to dilapidated condition of road.
Despite repeated calls to Executive Engineer PMGSY Rajouri, Mahmood, he didn’t pick call for his comments.
