RAJOURI, Feb 26: Installed with much fanfare, the majority of hand pumps are now in pitiable condition as many of them are defunct.
Few locals including Sanjay Sharma and Tahir Lone while speaking to Early Times said that we have raised the issue many a times with the concerned department but they never bothered to look into the issue. Angry residents said that due to careless attitude of concerned officers and general public is facing great inconvenience due to shortage of drinking water as most of the hand pumps have become non-functional. They said that the problem of water scarcity would aggravate further angry during peak summer season.
They appealed that Lt. Governor must act tough on the Ground Water Department which is in sleep mode and not ready to listen to the grievances of the people. |
