Excise Department Drive: 1 arrested, illicit liquor destroyed, wine shop booked

Jammu, March 19: Continuing the raids for the 8th consecutive day, various teams of Excise Department laid Nakas/raids across the State.
One Prince Bar & Restaurants at Samba was booked under section 49(b) of J&K Excise Act for breach of license conditions. The raid was conducted by officials of Excise department of Excise Range City South Jammu at R.S Pura and Bishnah in which 10 liters of illicit liquor was recovered and destroyed on the spot. One lady namely was also arrested on the spot. The team of Excise Range Rajouri-Poonch conducted a series of raids at village Marchola, Channi, and Saleri of Tehsil Sunderbani and about 200 liters of Lahan and 10 liters of illicit liquor was recovered from state land and destroyed on the spot. A naka was also laid by Excise Sub-Range Poonch at lower Krishna Ghati. In the process about 20 vehicles were checked for ascertaining of liquor/Drugs. Kathua Range conducted raids at upper Sakta Chack, Chartyala and Kundey Chack areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor. During the course of raids 20 liters of illicit liquor and 600 liters of Lahan recovered and later destroyed on the spot. Those who participated in the day long operations including Nipun Tickoo, ETO Excise Range City South, Jammu, Virender Pawar ETO Excise Range Rajouri-Poonch, Suraj Prakash ETO Excise Range Samba, Virender Kumar ETO Excise Range Kathua, along with Inspectors Arun Kumar, Razi Ahmed, Mukul Sharma, Renu Sharma and Mohd Arif.
Rajesh Kumar Shavan, Excise Commissioner, while appreciating the efforts of all teams in detecting the contraband has instructed them to work continue special drives to thwart any nefarious design of smugglers/Criminals.
