Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 19: At a time when Jammu and Kashmir administration has sounded an alert against COVID-19 and issued number of advisories to prevent it from spreading, the highest seat of the government, the Civil Secretariat in the winter capital has been left untouched.
No sanitization drive has been launched in the Civil Secretariat till date and moreover the manual frisking of employees by security men has instilled fear among them.
Employees of the Civil Secretariat told Early Times that essential guidelines for sanitization and hygiene to prevent epidemic are being compromised as no sanitization drive has been launched in the Civil Secretariat till date. “The most threatening thing which has been observed is that the frisking of employees by security persons with hands has great potential to spread this virus from any infected person but no alternative measure has been put in place to avoid the manual frisking,” they added.
The employees said that although government has restricted the entry of visitors in the Civil Secretariat in view of Coronoavirus threat but it has “forgotten to follow the advisories” for its own employees in letter and spirit. “No sanitizers and masks have been provided to the employees. Even the lift has not been sanitized, which generally remains crowded and in use throughout the day. There is every possibility of this deadly virus spreading in the Civil Secretariat if necessary measures are not taken,” they added.
